Pvt. Maurice W. Walling

Pvt. Maurice W. Walling, whose home address is 2300 Silver street, is a member of the 235th engineer combat battalion, Fifth army unit, that was the first to bridge the Verchio river below Viareggion, Italy, according to information from the Fifth army headquarters in Italy. The 235th and its sister battalion won the distinguished unit citation for the record in the battle of Cassino. During the spectacular advance of the Fifth army, the 235th engineers were out in front.
