S/Sgt. Lowell D. Stolze

 

 
 

 

Lowell D. Stolze, whose grandmother, Mrs. E. R. Terpenning, resides at 1823 Riverside boulevard, has been promoted to the rank of staff sergeant, according to announcement by Lieut. Col. James B. Knapp, group commander.  Sgt. Stolze is a waist gunner on a B-24 Liberator with the 15th Army air force in Italy, and a member of a Liberator group that has flown more than 120 combat missions against enemy aircraft factories, refineries, rail installations and other strategic targets in Germany and other enemy territory.  This group helped destroy aircraft factories, ballbearing and tank works, and oil fields.  A graduate of Central high school, Sgt. Stolze entered the Army November 24, 1943, and received his gunner’s wings at Laredo flexible gunnery school in Texas.
