Pvt. Ernest M. Soar

 

Killed in Action

Pvt. Ernest M. Soar, 22, was killed in action while serving with the marines on Iwo Jima, according to an announcement received from the war department by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Soar, Route 3. Entering the service in May, 1944, he went overseas last November. Surviving are his parents; six brothers, Harold Soar of Oakdale, Ia., T/5 Donald M. Soar, serving with the army overseas, Charles Clarence, Elton and Kenneth Soars, all at home; and three sisters, Mrs. Grace Vanecek of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Rhuea Renfro of Oakland, Calif. and Miss. Dora Mae Soar at home.

Return Body of Ernest M. Soar

The body of Marine Pvt. Ernest M. Soar, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. C.  H. Soar, route 3, Council Bluffs, is being returned to the United States aboard the army transport Albert M. Boe. Pvt. Soar was killed in action on Iwo Jima, Feb. 28, 1945.

He entered the marine corps in May, 1944, went overseas in November of the same year. Survivors are his parents; six brothers, Harold of Oakdale, Donald M. of Council Bluffs, Charles of route 4, Council Bluffs; Clarence, Elton and Kenneth Soar, all at home, and three sisters, Mrs. Grace Vanecek of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Rhuea Renfro of Oakland, Calif., and Mrs. Dora Mae Izatt of California.

Obituaries
Pvt. E. M. Soar

Funeral services for Pvt. Ernest M. Soar, 22, killed in action at Iwo Jima, June 28, 1945, will be held Thursday at 2 p. m. at Cutler’s chapel.

Burial will be in Fairview cemetery. Members of the V.F.W. will conduct a graveside military ceremony.
