PFC. MERLE L. SMITH

Funeral services and reburial for Pfc. Merle L. Smith, son of Mrs. Minnie Smith, 511 ½ Lafayette street, who died in a German prison camp Apr. 9, 1945, will be at 2 p. m. Monday in the Evangelical church at La Porte City, Ia. Rev. H. M. Raecker, Waterloo, will assist Rev. M. E. Shanka, La Porte city, in conducting the rites. Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion of La Porte City will participate in military rites. Burial will be in Dysart, Ia. The body is now at Kearns Garden chapel.

Merle L. Smith Rites on
Monday at La Porte City

La Porte City, Ia. – Funeral services for Pfc. Merle LeRoy Smith, formerly of La Porte City, whose body arrived on Thursday and was taken to the Kearn’s funeral home in Waterloo, will be at 2 p. m. Monday in Evangelical United Brethren church here.

Rev. H. M. Raecker, pastor of First Evangelical United Brethren church in Waterloo, will conduct the service, assisted by Rev. M. E. Shank, of the local church.

Military services will be conducted at the grave by the Normandy post of the VFW of La Porte City. Burial will be in Dysart cemetery.
