Memorial Services on Sunday at First Lutheran Church for Willard Seagren

Memorial services will be held at both Sunday morning services, 9:30 and 11 o’clock, in the First Baptist Church, for Willard Eugene Seagren, petty officer third class, who died while on flight duty on August 4, 1943.

Petty Officer Seagren was born June 14, 1922, in Sioux City and was baptized and confirmed in the First Lutheran Church. After being graduated by a Sioux City high school, he went to California to work at the Lockheed and North American airplane factories.

He enlisted in the navy November 17, 1942, and took his boot training at Farragut, Idaho. He was graduated by a radio school at Memphis, Tenn., as a third class petty officer. He was killed when two dive bombers collided in midair.

Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Seagren of Burbank, Cal., two sisters, Lois and Dorraine, of Burbank, and a grandfather, Helmer Olden, of Sioux City.
