TWIN BROTHERS MEET IN PACIFIC

Twin brothers from Sioux City, Pfc. Will E. Riordan and First Lt. Walt E. Riordan, met in January somewhere in the South Pacific, and posed for this picture which was sent to relatives in the United States. This was their second meeting since serving in the South Pacific. They held a three-day reunion last August.

Pfc. Riordan is in the headquarters of the Fifth marine division, and Lt. Riordan is in the headquarters of the Fourth marine division which received the presidential citation for bravery in the battle of Saipan. Their sister, Gertrude Riordan, is a WAVE on duty at the naval air station in San Diego, Cal.

The Riordan twins are graduates of East high school. Lt. Walt attended Iowa State Teachers college while his brother went to the University of Notre Dame. While at East, Will captained the 1938 Black Raiders in football, playing center. He also was all-state that year.

In 1940 Will was a regular guard on the Irish eleven, and was given acclaim for making the hardest tackle ever witnessed on a Notre Dame gridiron in the Navy game that season.
