Two Sioux Cityans have accepted appointment to the officers reserve corps, according to the War department; Russell Sackett Rich, 3420 Floyd Avenue, second lieutenant, quartermaster reserve and Hugh Donald Crawford, second lieutenant, infantry reserve.

MEN IN SERVICE

Lieut. Russell S. Rich arrived Sunday for a 10-day visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Rich, 3420 Floyd avenue. He was officer in charge of a troop train from Fort Francis E. Warren, Wyoming, to Fort Crook, Nebraska.

IN UNIFORM

Capt. Russell S. Rich, who is stationed at Fort Warren, Wyo., and his wife of Onawa, Ia., have been spending a 13-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Rich, 3420 Floyd avenue.  Capt. Rich has returned to Fort Warren and his wife has gone back to Onawa to resume her duties as Monona County health nurse.

Russell Sackett Rich was born Oct. 2, 1908 to Wilson D. and Anna E. Sackett Rich. He died Oct. 13, 1996 and is buried in Graceland Park Cemetery, Sioux City, IA.

Maj. Rich served in World War II with the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps.
