Sgt. Robert Elwood Powers

 

 

LaPorte City—Mr. and Mrs. Frank Powers have received word from their son, Sgt. Robert Powers, stating that he is on his way home.  He has been overseas more than three years.  After landing in England, he was sent to North Africa, then to Italy, where he has been with the 12th air force for a year.  Another son, Marlin, who is a seaman second class, is with the Third fleet and scheduled to arrive in Seattle for Navy Day.  He has been aboard the USS Ticonderoga and was in Tokyo Bay recently.

Robert Elwood Powers was born June 25, 1921 to Frank and Eva Powers. He died Oct. 31, 2008 and is buried in Westview Cemetery, La Porte City, IA.

Sgt. Powers served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps.
