SIOUX CITY NAVY MAN WOUNDED ON ACTIVE DUTY

Robert Corcoran, fireman first class, has been wounded in action, according to word received from him by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. Corcoran, 725 S. Linn street.

Enlisting in the Navy, he left December 8, 1941, his 17th birthday anniversary, for five weeks training at the Great Lakes station.  Since then he has seen continuous active duty in the Atlantic and now is stationed somewhere in the Pacific on convoy duty.  Robert attended St. Francis’ Catholic school and Trinity high school.

He has two half-brothers in service.  Gerald Popevis, an instructor in aviation mechanics, is stationed at Banana River, Fla., and Private Leonard Popevis, formerly in defense work in various southern Pacific islands, is stationed at Camp Dodge.
