OFFICIAL REPORT LISTS SGT. PEYERL MISSING IN ACTION

Staff Sgt. Francis R. Peyerl, Muscatine, has been officially listed as missing in action in the European area in a War Department announcement distributed by the Associated Press. Relatives here were informed he was reported missing several weeks ago.

LIST OF MISSING IN ACTION GREW IN 1944
Among those from this area who have been listed as missing in action in official dispatches to next of kin, and upon casualty lists of the armed services, are: 

STAFF SGT. FRANCIS R. PEYERL—A radioman and waist gunner on an American bomber, Staff Sgt. Francis R. Peyerl, was listed as missing in action over Austria since May 24, 1944. He left Topeka, Kas., on May 15, for Italy. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Peyerl, 140003 Logan street. His wife is the former Katherine Krider.

Francis Richard Peyerl was born in 1921 to Frank and Nellie Bertha Frankenreiter Peyerl. He died May 24, 1944 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA and has a cenotaph in Saint Marys Cemetery, Muscatine, IA.
