—Pvt. Robert Newton has returned to camp after spending a 10-day furlough visiting his father, Albert Newton, of West Liberty, and his sisters at Muscatine. Pvt. Newton entered the service in June, 1943, and received his basic training at Camp Roberts, Calif. In November, he was sent to Fort Riley, Kas., where he is now stationed. He has the following address: H. Q. Battery, 288th F. O. B., Fort Riley, Kas.

Robert Leroy Newton was born Jan. 7, 1924 to Albert Clyde and Marie Johanna Christopherson Newton. He died Mar. 27, 1993 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island, IL.
