IN UNIFORM
Bob Merriman, 20-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Merriman, 1918 Third avenue, is a member of the crew of the battleship IOWA, pride of the Third fleet. The ship has returned to this country to take part in the Navy day celebration in Seattle. Merriman, a fire controlman third class, was graduated from East high school in June, 1943, after playing forward on the basketball team for two years. He was assigned to the IOWA January 1, 1944, and is a switchboard operator on the fire control system which controls the main battery.
