Sioux City Sailor Has Taken Part in 32 Engagements

Jerome V. Manley, seaman first class, son of Mrs. M. J. Manley, 1216 W. 14th street, is home for the first time in two years. Overseas 18 months, of which 15 were spent in the South Pacific, he has supported every amphibious campaign in the southwest Pacific from the autumn of 1943 to November 1944.

Aboard one of the largest carriers, Seaman Manley, within one year of operations, has traveled more than five times around the world taking part in 32 engagements, and wears nine stars for being in nine major battles.  A brother, Eugene Manley, also in the Navy, is stationed in the South Pacific.
