Lt. Clifford E. Mahrt

 

 

 

IN UNIFORM

Clifford E. Mahrt, former student of Morningside college and correspondent for The Journal, has been promoted from the rank of second to first lieutenant at a 15th air force base in Italy, where he is a navigator on a B-24 Liberator. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Mahrt, route 3, Correctionville.

Clifford E. Mahrt, former Journal reporter and son of W.G. Mahrt of Correctionville, Iowa has been honorably discharged at Ellington Field, Texas. Overseas 34 months, Mahrt served nine months with the 15th army air force in Italy and was awarded the distinguished flying cross, the E.T.O. ribbon with five battle stars and the air medal with three clusters. His wife lives in Jefferson, Wis.
