Pfc. Louis F. Madsen

 

 

DIES OF WOUNDS

Salix, Ia.—Special:  Pfc. Louis F. Madsen died April 8 of wounds received in Germany, his wife has been informed by the War Department.  Pfc. Madsen was born September 15, 1920, near Sloan.  He was graduated from Salix high school in 1939, and on March 31, 1944, he entered the service.  Following training at Camp Hood, Tex., he was sent overseas in September, 1944.

Surviving besides the widow Doris are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ludvi Madsen of Saliz; two sisters, Darlene and Beula, and a brother, Sgt. Eugene Madsen, stationed with the Army in France.

Pvt. Madsen is buried in Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands and was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart.
