Cpl. Percy D. Langford

 

 

SERVED 23 MONTHS IN SOUTH PACIFIC

Cpl. Percy D. Langford, who recently returned to the States after serving 23 months in the South Pacific with a combat engineers unit, is spending a 30-day leave with his mother, Mrs. Alice Langford, 709 Pearl street.

Cpl. Langford wears the Asiatic Pacific and American Theater of war campaign bars and two stars representing battles in which he participated at Bougainville and Guam.  While in the South Pacific, he met Dewain Emmerich and Carl Fisher, both marines from Sioux City.

Enlisting in the marines August 5, 1942, Cpl. Langford was sent overseas the following January.  He spent four and one-half months in New Zealand.  He was formerly employed by Union Freightways, Inc.
