Pfc. Lewis E. Kreger

 

 

Receive Word of Death of Son

Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Kreger, 2428 South Eighth street, were notified Wednesday evening by the war department that their son, Pfc. Lewis E. Kreger, was killed in action somewhere in France on Aug. 31.

Pfc. Kreger had been in the infantry for two years and had been overseas since July, 1944. He received his basic training at Camp Robinson, Ark.

Prior to entering the service, Pfc. Kreger was employed by the Midwest Walnut company here.

Lewis E. Kreger was born Nov. 6, 1920 to Melvin and Hazel Dalton Kreger. He died Aug. 31, 1944 and is buried in Brittany American Cemetery, Saint Martin, France.

Pvt. Kreger served in World War II with the U.S. Army 28th Infantry Regiment, 8th Infantry Division. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
