Jack Koerner and Wayne Begg left last week for St. Ambrose college at Davenport, where they start service in the U. S. Navy in the V-12 program.

A number of officer-candidates in the Army and Navy have arrived home on between-term leaves. They will be home from 3 to 10 days, depending on the arrangements of the particular colleges at which they are being trained, and whether or not they transfer to different schools for the next term. Jack Koerner, in V-12 at Normal, Ill., will be home until July 1.

NEWS of the BOYS in the SERVICE

A/S Jack Koerner arrived home Monday noon to spend a 10-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Koerner, in LeMars.  Jack is in the Navy V-12 program stationed at Bloomington, Ill., at the Illinois Normal.

Claire Jack “Jack” Koerner was born June 14, 1925 to Christian Jacob and Mynne Pieper Koerner. He died Sept. 16, 1965 and is buried in Marcus-Amherst Cemetery, Marcus, IA.
