Lt. Col. John R. Knittel

 

 

John R. Knittel, stationed at Kelly field, Texas, has been promoted from major to lieutenant colonel. He is the son of W. E. Knittel, 918 Douglas street. He was born in Sioux City, was graduated from Sioux City high school and attended the University of Nebraska. Before entering the service he was in the automobile business at Vermillion, S.D. He was at one time South Dakota assistant secretary of state. Col. Knittel served as a lieutenant in the first world war, seeing service in France. He has three sisters: Mrs. J. C. Hospers, Sheldon, Ia.; Mrs. D. C. Coppage, Emerson, Ia.; and Mrs. Fred Convery, Sedro Valley, Wash.

Rudolph Knittel, stationed at San Antonio, Texas has been promoted from lieutenant colonel to colonel, according to news received by his father, W. E. Knittel, 918 Douglas Street.
