Pvt. LeRoy Emanuel Johnson

Pvt. LeRoy E. Johnson, son of A. R. Johnson, 911 Plymouth street, has won the right to wear the boots and wings of the United States army paratroopers. He has completed four weeks of jump training at Fort Benning, Ga.

LeRoy Emanuel “Swede” Johnson was born Aug. 6, 1913 to Arthur R. and Helen K. Johnson. He died June 29, 1986 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery, Sioux City, IA.

LeRoy served in World War II with the U.S. Army 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 17th Airborne Division; 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division; and 515th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 13th Airborne Division.
