Report Hubbard Missing in Action
in Pacific Area


Pfc. Leland R. Hubbard, 19, son of Howard Hubbard, 818 Edison street, has been reported missing in action in the Pacific, according to a war department telegram received here by his father this week. No date was given in the message.

Hubbard last heard from his son two weeks ago at which time the marine was stationed on Guam. He entered service two years ago, but has been overseas only a month. A former East high student, he was employed part-time at Rath Packing Co. before entering the marine corps.

Two brothers are in service, Fist Lt. Ronald Hubbard, stationed in France, and Pvt. Leon Hubbard, stationed at Hastings, Neb.

NOTE: Pfc. Leland Russell Hubbard was aboard the ill-fated U. S. S. Indianapolis and died July 30, 1945.
