Hancock Soldier Killed in Action

OAKLAND – Tech. 4/g Gilbert Dean Hildebrand, son of Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Hildebrand of Hancock, was killed in action in Italy, according to a war department message to his parents this week. He had previously been reported missing action on April 25.

Sgt. Hildebrand was inducted in June 1942, and had been in Italy since October 1943. Surviving are his parents, four brothers, Doyce and Marvin, in Europe, Virgil and Charles, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Ralph Lane of Missouri Valley and Geneva Hildebrandt of Denver, Col.

Gilbert Dean Hildebrand was born Aug. 20, 1917. He died Apr. 25, 1945 and is buried in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, IL.
