Private Eddie Hart Missing in Germany

Added to the list of Waterloo boys missing in action Saturday was Pfc. Eddie Hart, 24, whose wife resides at 334 Dearborn avenue. A telegram received Saturday informed Mrs. Hart that her husband, who had been serving with the infantry, was missing in Germany since Dec. 4. No details were given in the message.

Private Hart, who is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Hart, Jesup, Ia., entered service in June, 1942, trained at Camp Swift and Fort Sam Houston, Tex., and Indiantown Gap, Pa., before going to France in August, 1944.

Eddie Hart was born Aug. 8, 1920 to Elias L. and Mae Johnston Hart. He died Dec. 5, 1945 and is memorialized in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo, IA and at the Tablets of the Missing, Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint Avold, France. 

Pvt. Hart served in World War II with the U.S. Army 379th Infantry Regiment, 95th Infantry Division and was awarded the Bronze Star, Silver Star and Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.
