Pvt. D. Duane Hart

 

KILLED IN ACTION

A native Sioux Cityan, Pvt. D. Duane Hart, 22, was killed in action on Leyte island November 27, his sister, Mrs. Ruby Piatt, 1903 Ingleside avenue, has been informed.  A son of A. E. Hart of Kansas City, the young man was born October 30, 1922, and attended schools here until 1932. He entered the Army January 21, 1943, as a paratrooper in a parachute infantry unit.  He received his training in Camp Tocoa, Ga., Camp Mackall, N.C., Fort Benning, Ga., and Camp Polk, La.  He was sent overseas in May, 1944, and was stationed at New Guinea until early November when he was sent to Leyte.

Daniel Duane Hart was born Oct. 30, 1922 to Aaron Elias and Mary Lucinda Stanton Hart. He died Nov. 27, 1944 and is buried in Oakhill Cemetery, Janesville, WI.
