1st Lt. George Joseph Haloupek

 

Born 31 Dec 1916, in Belle Plaine, Iowa, George was the third of six children of Frank and Kathryn (Sevcik) Haloupek. In Nov 1942, he enlisted in the US Army, 34th Infantry Division, operating in Italy. He was honorably discharged in Aug 1946, earning a Bronze Star and a Combat Infantry Badge, with the rank of 1st Lt. 

After the war, George married Dorothy Ditzler, and they lived in Blairstown, Iowa, where he was advertising manager for Mee Too grocery stores. George passed away on 4 Oct 1997.
