WAR PRISONER

Pfc. Varnel E. Groves, 19, informed his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Perry E. Groves, 800 Market street, in a letter this week, that he is a prisoner of war at the Stalag III-A camp in Germany.  He previously was reported missing in action on December 11, 1944, in Germany.  Pfc. Groves wrote that he was well and that he expected the war to be over soon.

The German prisoner has been overseas one year.  Prior to his capture, he was with the intelligence reconnaissance division of the infantry.  A graduate of the January, 1944, class at Central high school, he was inducted in the Army March 30, 1944.
