Notes About N.E. Iowans in the Service
PLAINFIELD—Walter Gritzner, paratrooper, has completed his training at Ft. Benning, Ga., and is home for his first furlough since his enlistment last March. His brother, William Gritzner, stationed on Tinian island, has been promoted to sergeant, according to word received by the parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Gritzner.

Walter Charles Gritzner was born Feb. 1, 1925 to Charles Augustus and Hazel Norine Jones Gritzner. He died Mar. 1, 2008 and is buried in Willow Lawn Cemetery, Plainfield, IA.
