T/5 Joseph Goldstein

 

 

IN UNIFORM.

Cpl. Joe Goldstein, a patient in England general hospital, Atlantic City, N.J., has been awarded the silver star for gallantry in action with the Fourth infantry division in Europe.  The citation reads in part, “While engaged in his work, he was wounded, but refused medical treatment until all others had been treated. The courageous efforts of Cpl. Goldstein, coupled with his superior technical skill, undoubtedly saved the lives of several wounded men and are in keeping with the highest military services.”  Cpl. Goldstein’s mother, Mrs. Sarah Goldstein, lives at 2115 Jackson street.  His wife, Dr. Goldstein, the former Muriel Frank of Omaha, is practicing in a hospital in New York.

Joseph Goldstein, technician fifth grade, son of Mrs. Sara Goldstein, 2115 Jackson Street, has returned to the United States after serving 11 months in the European theater of operations. A. member of the medical corps, he has been awarded the purple heart for injuries received when hit by shrapnel. He is a patient at the army’s Thomas M. England General Hospital at Atlantic City, N.J.
