Notes About N.E. Iowans in the Service

WAVERLY—Staff Sgt. Albert H. Gielau is home with an honorable discharge after 36 months overseas with the 32nd “Red Arrow” division. He served in Australia, New Guinea and the Philippines and the last action of his division was on Luzon. Before his induction Sergeant Gielau was employed at Rath’s in Waterloo.

Albert H. Gielau was born May 4, 1921 to Albert G. and Bertha J. Schumacher Gielau. He died Mar. 31, 2008 and is buried in Saint Peters Lutheran Cemetery, Denver, IA.
