CPL. ROBERT H. GETTY KILLED
Former North Junior Pupil Was in Action on Luzon


Cpl. Robert H. Getty, 28, was killed in action on Luzon island in the Philippines March 17, 1945, where he had been stationed since January, 1944. The official notice from the War Department was received by his wife, who with infant son Robert, formerly of Oakland, Cal., live at 900 16th street.

Cpl. Getty, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Getty, 2606 Villa avenue, was born March 3, 1917, in Sioux City. He attended North Junior high school, and in 1937 joined the services for three years. In 1942, he was inducted into the armed forces, and took his infantry training at Camp Roberts, Cal.

Survivors in addition to his wife, son and parents are one brother, Elwin Getty, serving with the armed forces in France, and two stepsisters, Mrs. Marjorie Drake and Miss Violet Oming.
