RECEIVES PROMOTION.

Sergeant George N. Gearas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Gearas, 1522 W. Third street, has been promoted to the rank of staff sergeant. He is on the hospital staff at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

FURLOUGH OVER.

Staff Sergeant George N. Gearas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Gearas, 1522 W. Third street, has returned to station hospital at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, after spending a two-week furlough at home.

IN UNIFORM.
Lt. George N. Gearas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Gearas, 1522 W. Third street, is home on leave from Camp Stoneman, Cal., where he is personnel officer of the provisional battalion, medical hospital ship platoon. Lt. Gearas was with the first group of nine Woodbury County enlistees who entered the service November 27, 1940, following the passage of the National Defense Act. He received his commission December 1, 1943, at Camp Barkeley, Tex.
