Pfc. Franz T. Fisher

 

ESTHERVILLE SOLDIER REPORTED KILLED IN FIGHTING IN GERMANY

Estherville, Ia.—Special:  Pfc. Franz T. Fisher, 27, son of Anton Fisher, Estherville, was reported by the War Department to have died in Germany February 6.  Serving in the infantry with the famous 29th division, which has been fighting since D-day, Pfc. Fisher’s last letter was dated February 1.  His division won a citation from Maj. Gen. C. H. Gerhardt, commanding for its achievements before St. Lo.

Franz Anton Fisher was born Jan. 14, 1917 to Anton and Frieda Rohermann Fisher. He died Feb. 6, 1945 and is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville, IA.
