Lawrence H. Ewers

 

MADE SEAMAN 1/C—
Lawrence H. Ewers, who was here last week on an 8-day leave, has gone to Little Creek, Va., where he will be assigned to a boat and receive the rating of seaman 1/c.

Ewers recently received a certificate of merit for outstanding qualities and performance of duty in the deck division. Graduated from the local high school last spring, he entered service in June, took his boot training at the Great Lakes and later amphibious training at Little Creek.

His brother, Albert Ewers, aviation cadet, is taking advanced training at Kingsville, Tex.

OUT OF NAVY
—Lawrence H. Ewers, son of Mrs. L. C. Ewers, was discharged from the Navy on Feb. 27 at Minneapolis.  Ewers enlisted in the Navy in May, 1944, and served in the Pacific area.  At present, he is making his home with his sister, Mrs. Wilbur Plath, 606 10th N.W. He plans to go to Ames in September to begin a course in construction engineering at Iowa State college.
