G. W. Dexter Is Killed
in Crash of Fighter Plane

Second Lt. Glenn W. Dexter, 23, fighter pilot based at Dalhart, Tex., was killed sometime Wednesday in a plane crash at Tucumcari, N. M., according to word received here Thursday by his mother, Mrs. Maude Blain, 918 Bertch avenue, from his wife, who resides in Des Moines.

Mrs. Blain left immediately for Des Moines to be with Lieutenant Dexter’s wife and one-month-old daughter, Patty Lynn.

Lieutenant Dexter was a graduate of West high school and attended Iowa State Teachers college, Cedar Falls, before entering service in September, 1942. He was commissioned at Moore field, Mission, Tex., in February, 1944, and on May 6 married Madeline Roberts of Des Moines.

Dexter Rites at Des Moines on Tuesday

Funeral services for Lt. Glenn Dexter, 23, son of Mrs. Maude Blain, 918 Bertch avenue, who was killed Wednesday in a plane crash at Tucumcari, N. M., will be conducted at 2 p. m. Tuesday at the Carl White funeral home, 2505 West Grand avenue. Burial will be at Des Moines. He is survived by his wife, and a month-old daughter, Patty Lynn, of Des Moines.

Glenn William Dexter was born Mar. 30, 1922 to John William and Maude L. Wilson Dexter. He died Apr. 4, 1945 and is buried in Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines, IA.

2nd Lt. Dexter served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps as an instructor on P-47’s, stationed at Dalhart, TX.
