PRISONERS OF WAR FROM HENRY COUNTY ARE LISTED

Henry county relatives of men who were prisoners of war in Germany anxiously await word from them. All likely have been freed, information from Germany indicates, but the mail facilities out of the country have broken down temporarily.

A list of the prisoners from the county has been compiled by the News. It may not include all. Corrections and additions should be mailed or telephoned to the News office.

T-Sgt. Glen Despain, New London, reported missing over Romania, May 31, 1944, later reported down over Yugoslavia; released from German prison camp in April, 1945.

Glen Perry DeSpain was born Aug. 24, 1919 to Perry Newton and Clara Elizabeth Miller DeSpain. He died Jan. 23, 1979 and is buried in Jaggar Cemetery, Danville, IA.

Glen served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II, was shot down over Rumania and became a German POW.
