Donnell Cross

Brothers State Surprise

These brothers, both in the navy for more than two years, recently surprised their parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Cross, 2743 Elm street [Dubuque], when they walked into their home unannounced.

Machinist's Mate Donnell Cross (left) returned from the South Pacific, where he had been in the transport service. He was aboard the ship that took the first Marine Corps unit to Guadalcanal, and he returned to the United States from Guam last month.

Seaman Merlin Cross (right) is stationed at the Navy pier in Chicago, having been forced to remain in this country because of injuries received early in his enlistment.
