Plan Memorial for Crose Sunday

The Rev. R. E. Smith will conduct memorial services for S. Sgt. James Crose, Sunday at 8 p.m. at the Salem Evangelical church.

S. Sgt. Crose, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur J. Crose, 1412 Fourth avenue, was reported killed in action on Leyte Nov. 12. He had been overseas about seven months.

Other survivors include two brothers, Seaman 1/c Arthur J. Crose in the navy, Peter Crose at home; four sisters, Dorothy Crose of Washington, D. C., Mrs. Marvin Rupe of Council Bluffs and Betty and Katherine Crose at home.

James Harvey Crose was born Sept. 3, 1923 to Arthur J. and Katherine Agnes Fisher Crose. He died Nov. 12, 1944 and is buried in Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.

Sgt. Crose served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 498th Bomb Squadron, 345th Bomb Group, Medium and was KIA on Leyte. He was awarded the Air Medal and Purple Heart.
