Lt. R. C. Croker of Whiting Wins Promotion in England

An Eighth Air Force Fighter Station Eng.—Promotion from second to first lieutenant has been announced here for Robert C. Croker, 23, of Whiting, Ia., an Eighth air force P-51 pilot.

Lt. Croker is a member of the 339th fighter group commanded by Col. John B. Henry, jr., of San Antonio, Tex.  Since his arrival in England, he has participated in numerous bomber escort missions and strafing attacks on important ground targets.

Before enlisting in the army air forces in October, 1942, Lt. Croker was engaged in farming.  Lt. Croker is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Croker, of Whiting.
