S/Sgt. Richard E. Cotton





Mrs. Ethel Blackburn, 818 Grandview boulevard, is shown holding the distinguished flying cross and the air medal presented to her recently by Lt. Col. Henry W. Eitt, executive officer at the Sioux City Army Air Base.  The medals were awarded to Mrs. Blackburn’s son, S. Sgt. Richard E. Cotton, who is now a prisoner of war in Germany.

S. Sgt. Richard E. Cotton, son of Mrs. Ethel Cotton, is at the San Antonio district, army air force personnel distribution command, after serving 13 months in the European theater of operations as a gunner.  He wears the distinguished flying cross, air medal with three clusters, European theater of operations ribbon with four battle stars, and the purple heart. He was a prisoner of war.
