S/Sgt. Leonard D. Brown

 

 
 

 

Private Lloyd A. Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Brown, 3002 Washington avenue, has been selected from a group of 250 soldiers to appear in a war motion picture. He will leave next week to begin his training. Private Brown is stationed at Camp Cook, California. He attended Central high school and was inducted into the Army November 23, 1942.

Technical Sergeant Leonard D. Brown, brother of Private Brown, is stationed in Africa. Another brother, Russell, plans to enter the Army in May

IN UNIFORM

S. Sgt. Leonard D. Brown of Sioux City recently was awarded the bronze star for meritorious service in combat on the Fifth Army front in northern Italy.  As mess sergeant, Sgt. Brown never failed to get rations to his company no matter how difficult the situation may have been.  “Sgt. Brown’s outstanding performance,” the citation read, “of his duties despite adverse weather and hazardous combat conditions, reflect great credit on himself and the military service.” His mother, Mrs. Mary L. Brown, lives at 1522 Geneva street.
