Herbert Bredahl Is Awarded
Bronze Star For Service In Italy

Mrs. Herbert Bredahl, the former Mable Reed, has received the following citation from her husband, which was given him at the same time he was awarded the Bronze Star. The citation reads:

“Herbert C. Bredahl, 39216917, Private First Class, Infantry, United States Army. For meritorious service in combat between 20 February 1945 and 24 February 1945, near Mt. Balvedere, Italy. In a vital offensive across mountainous terrain, Private First Class Bredahl, a wireman, laid and serviced communication lines almost continuously for two and a half days, without sleep or rest, under a constant barrage of artillery, mortar and small arms fire. After a short rest, he once again took up this difficult and dangerous task, maintaining wire communications at a critical time in the attack and consolidation of several important objectives. By his courage and extreme devotion to duty, Private First Class Bredahl has upheld the finest traditions of the United States Army, and earned the highest commendation and praise. Entered the military service from Port Orchard, Washington. H. P. Miller, Major, AGD. Asst. Adj. Gen.”
