Pvt. Lawrence Bos

 

 

Lawrence Bos, son of Richard Bos of Inwood, will be leaving Friday for the service.  His brother Richard is already in the service.  Lawrence had his examination and subsequent furlough and doesn't know where he will be sent, but his address will be published in the News as soon as we receive it here.

Lawrence Bos, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bos of Inwood has been at a hospital at Camp Beale, Calif. for several weeks following an operation on his knee.  Lawrence split a bone in his knee when he fell off a tractor a few years ago.  He is able to get around now without the use of crutches but has considerable pain at night.  His address is: Co. G 45th Arm'd Regt., 13th Grand Division, APO 263, Camp Beale, Calif.

Married In West
Pfc. Lawrence Bos of Camp Beale, Calif., and Gertrude Bobeldyk of Marysville, Calif. were married last Wednesday in the army camp chapel.  The parents of the couple Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bos and Mr. and Mrs. John Bobeldyk received telegrams telling of the marriage but no particulars have been received as yet.  Gertrude was a clerk in the Model store here for several years.  (R. Pvt. Lawrence Bos left Sheldon, Ia. by rail to return to Camp Bowie, Texas after spending an 18 day furlough with his wife and parents Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bos, Sr. While home Pvt. and Mrs. Lawrence Bos became the proud parents of a baby boy, March 10, at the Canton hospital.  The infant son has been named Richard John after both of the grandfathers.  Richard John was baptized at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Bobeldyk.  Mrs. Bos will make her home at her parents for the time being.

PVT. LAWRENCE BOS

Pvt. Lawrence Bos entered the service Nov. 27, 1942, and also had his training at Ft. Leavenworth. He then was sent to Camp Beale, Calif. for his training in the tank division. While stationed at California he married Gertrude Bobeldyke of Inwood, Iowa, on August 25, 1943. He then was sent to Camp Bowie, Texas, on maneuvers. After maneuvers he received a furlough and at that time became the proud father of a baby boy born on March 11, 1944. He was ordered to Fort Meade, Maryland, and then took a boat for overseas duty somewhere in England. After being in England three months, he was moved to a different camp and is now stationed in France with a Casual Replacement Division.

His wife and son, Richard John, are making their home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Bobeldyke.

These two BOS brothers haven’t seen each other for 2 ½ years and were unable to contact one another while both were stationed in England at one time.
