Lt. (j.g.) William G. Bennett

FARRAGUT—Lt. (j g) William G. Bennett, who is a communications officer on board an escort aircraft carrier in the Pacific war theater has written his wife, who resides here and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bennett of Shenandoah, and other relatives, telling about the part his ship played in the Leyte battle last October. The carrier on which he is a member of the crew also took part in the invasion of Peleliu island in September and is still with the fleet in the Philippine area. It is not known when he will be able to return to the states.

William George Bennett was born Sept. 13, 1913 to Charles Augustus and Martha May Campbell Bennett. He died Aug. 9, 1980 and is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove, IA.
