IN UNIFORM

T. Sgt. Franklin A. Beller, whose wife lives at 504 10th street, has been awarded the bronze star for heroic service performed on November 20, in France.  He and his platoon leader led a mine laying detail of the antitank company along a possible route of a German approach and despite exceptionally heavy fire, they laid the protective mine field and placed other barriers in strategic locations.  Several enemy tanks were destroyed as they struck the mine fields when the German armor passed through attempting to recapture the American positions.
