Local Youth Is Killed in France

Mr. and Mrs. Leo Durbin, 416 North First street, have been notified that their nephew, S. Sgt. Jack C. Bailey, was killed in action on Aug. 8 in France.

S. Sgt. Bailey was promoted from the rank of private first class to staff sergeant the last of July, he was killed eight days later, before his family knew of his promotion.

S. Sgt. Bailey made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Durbin until he entered the service a year ago. He went to France on D-day.
