Pvt. Vernon C. Anderson

 

 

IN UNIFORM

In recognition of the brave service of Pvt. Vernon C. Anderson, 20, who was killed in action near St. Lo, France, July 31, 1943, the War Department last week awarded the purple heart to his sister, Mrs. E. Hanson, 510 W. 23d street. Before entering the service, he made his home with his sister. He was inducted March 17, 1943, and went overseas in June, 1944.

Vernon Claire Anderson was born Aug. 2, 1924 to Charles and Mable Clark Anderson. He died July 31, 1944 and has a cenotaph in Paton Cemetery, Paton, IA.
