Carl H. Anderson

Silver Star

Carl H. Anderson has been promoted from seaman 1/c to coxswain, according to word received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Anderson, 902 Avenue C.

He has been in the south Pacific area for two years and participated in several major battles and has escaped injury with only a bit of shrapnel in the tip of a finger. He has the silver star.

In May, 1943, he was home on a 30-day furlough, after having been torpedoed, shot at and bombed, and took time out to go to Lincoln, Neb., to inform Mrs. Frank Conn of the death of her husband, his pal, six months previously.
