On December 28th, word was received by Floyd Agnes of Nodaway, that his son, Pfc. Wayne Agnew, was killed in action [accidental gunshot] on December 5, in France. Pfc. Agnew was serving with the army engineers, and has been in service about two years. He is a nephew of Mrs. L. F. Bowers of Corning.

Saturday word came to Mrs. Haley that her son-in-law, Wayne Agnes, had been killed in action in Italy. This awful war, and the sorrow it brings!

Clifford Agnew, Seaman 1/c from Chicago, attended memorial services for his uncle, Wayne Agnew at the M.E. Church Sunday afternoon.
