Bernard Ferdand Hebel was born Apr. 30, 1923 to Christy Emil and Blanch E. Yezek Hebel. He died May 7, 1942 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.

Petty Officer Hebel served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Sims (DD-409) when that vessel was sunk by the Japanese in the Coral Sea. He was MIA/FOD/KIA and awarded the Purple Heart.
