Eugene F. “Gene” Pingel was born Oct. 23, 1923 to Frank and Margaret Carroll Pingel. He died Jan. 8, 2014 and is buried in Newark Township Cemetery, Vincent, IA.

Gene served in World War II with the U.S. Army on the island of Leyte in the Pacific and in Japan.
